Volunteer
CorruptionDatabase.com is owned and hosted by a Houston small business owner. We are seeking volunteers who have the vision to pursue the impact this project could have on our national political culture,including but not limited to, the 2010 US elections. Participating in this project will likely offer opportunities for visibility and effectiveness on a national stage.
All individuals interested in this project are invited to participate to the extent that they wish – our goal is that specific volunteer leaders chosen will coordinte volunteer activity. CorruptionDatabase.com will be happy to assist volunteers in receiving academic credit for their contributions, in co-ordination with their universities / colleges.

Lead Research Volunteer:
The lead research volunteer will have the following reponsibilities:
- Research media records of corruption among elected officials and government employees
- Populate the website with relevant and accurate data
- Co-ordinate and lead ad-hoc volunteers
- Advertise the site on social media including blogs, social networking sites to increase public participation and highlight the website as a resource
The lead research volunteer is expected to work for a minimum of 10 hours a week, and will be attending mandatory weekly online meetings with other team members to review progress, set goals and answer questions.
The lead research volunteer is expected to have an interest in the aims of the website, as well as familiarity with social media (Facebook / Twitter / Blogs etc.).
If you are a student, CorruptionDatabase.com will be happy to co-operate with you/your school to make this an opportunity to earn academic credit as an unpaid internship.

Lead Technology Volunteer:
The website is designed like Wikipedia – it is open to editing by any individual, and all changes are tracked so as to record any gratuitous editing.
The lead technology volunteer will have the following reponsibilities:
- Maintain the MediaWiki / Wordpress backend
- Monitor changes to the templates and answer technical questions posed by other volunteers
- Add and maintain a BuddyPress forum
- Add features / document templates to make the site more user friendly
- Assist with SEO
The lead technology volunteer is expected to contribute a minimum of 10 hours a week, and will be attending a mandatory weekly meeting with other team members to review progress, set goals and answer questions.
The lead technology volunteer is expected to have an interest in the aims of the website, and ideally a technology background in Comp. Sci. / Comp. Engg. / CIS / MIS. Experience in the specific software mentioned (MediaWiki etc.) is not necessary - presumably you’re not afraid to learn new things!
